The Context

Our client – a US national – was on a spousal visa, but unfortunately, her marriage ended badly, and she and her partner separated.

She approached us for assistance as she wanted to remain in the UK to start an art gallery for painters and sculptors, as well as a training academy. We advised her that she could switch to a self-sponsorship visa and establish her own company.

How We Assisted

We held an in-person meeting to address concerns regarding her previous visa and the breakdown of her marriage, and to inform the Home Office properly.

Although our client had already set up her company, it was not yet trading. We assisted her in obtaining PAYE and VAT registration from HMRC and proceeded with her sponsor licence application.

Her business partner acted as the authorising officer and had concerns about managing the licence in a compliant manner. We provided him with comprehensive authorising officer and SMS portal training to ensure he understood his duties and was fully comfortable in understanding his role.

Their company successfully obtained the sponsor licence with priority service due to the urgency and strict deadlines of the matter.  The licence was granted with one CoS allocation, which meant the CoS could be assigned immediately.

Finally, we prepared the Skilled Worker visa application and submitted it online swiftly to ensure the client did not overstay.

The Outcome

Our client obtained her Skilled Worker visa and successfully opened her gallery to the public. Additionally, she has turned a significant profit from her training academy.
